SUMMARY:Collection Insights tour to “Knowledge Is a Garden – Uriel Orlow in dialogue with the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst collection”
DESCRIPTION:Who takes care of the works of art in the collection\, and what does caring really mean? During this tour\, participants will learn more about the exhibited artworks from Francisca Silva e Sousa\, Head of Collection Care. This tour explores conservation from the standpoint of the curatorial thread of the exhibition: „Uriel Orlow’s focus is mainly on artistic explorations of «wilful non-knowledge» (agnotology). What knowledge is permitted in the course of global power relations\, what is suppressed or hidden? What knowledge is unlawfully acquired? How is knowledge lost?“.  During the visit we will discuss how recent theoretical developments within the conservation field mirror ideas that deeply challenge ‚global North’s‘ notions of preservation.
